The Vend�e, being on the Atlantic coast of France is accessible by car from the channel ports and now, with the expansion of air travel, serviced by air.
By ferry the choice is shorter sea journey and longer car journey or longer sea journey and shorter car journey. (see table below). Although the �fast craft� services give the best of both worlds. However a more economical short crossing by tunnel or ferry with an hotel stop can make an interesting start or finish to a holiday in France. The choice is yours.
By air the principal airports serving the Vend�e are at Nantes and La Rochelle and are serviced by the new generation of cut price air lines. With car rental readily available this is proving to be an increasingly popular means of visiting the west coast of France.
