The Vendée, being on the Atlantic coast of France is accessible by car from the channel ports and now, with the expansion of air travel, serviced by air. By ferry the choice is shorter sea journey and longer car journey or longer sea journey and shorter car journey. Although the fast craft services give the best of both worlds.
